Heavy Traffic Chaos on Busy Aali Masjid–Soura Road: Commuters and Patients Suffer Amid Ongoing Construction Work

Srinagar 09/04/2026 (JKNN) Srinagar witnessed massive traffic congestion on the busy Aali Masjid to Soura Hospital stretch on Thursday morning, leaving government employees, patients, and the general public stranded for hours.
The disruption comes despite an advisory issued by the SSP Traffic Srinagar Aijaz Ahmad a day earlier, informing about ongoing road construction on the Alijan route and urging commuters to use alternative routes.
However, a large number of vehicles continued to ply on the same stretch, resulting in severe traffic jams and long delays.
Being a crucial route connecting key offices and healthcare facilities, the situation caused major inconvenience, especially for patients trying to reach hospitals and employees heading to workplaces.
Locals expressed concern over the situation, saying, “We are not against development, but priority should be given to critical and emergency services.”
They urged authorities to ensure smoother traffic management, especially on routes leading to hospitals.
Authorities have reiterated their appeal to the public to strictly follow traffic advisories and opt for alternate routes to avoid further chaos until the completion of the road work.
