Imran Shah Calls for Resilience Against Drug Abuse, Urges Youth to Choose Strength Over Addiction
Anantnag, April 13: (JOIN) Senior National Conference (NC) Leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, has expressed serious concern over the growing menace of drug abuse, terming it a grave threat to the future of society, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Imran Shah while speaking NC’s District Youth Convention at River View Ashajipora yesterday stated that the alarming rise in substance abuse is silently destroying the dreams, health, and potential of the youth, who are otherwise capable of shaping a brighter tomorrow. He emphasized that drug abuse is not merely an individual issue but a collective challenge that requires awareness, responsibility, and decisive action from all sections of society.
Appealing directly to the youth, Shah urged them to recognize their inner strength and purpose. He said that young people must not allow harmful substances to take control of their lives and should instead choose a path that builds their future. He advised them to remain connected to their goals, families, and communities.
Highlighting the importance of sports and physical activities, Shah encouraged youth to actively participate in such pursuits. He noted that sports instill discipline, resilience, and a sense of achievement, while also improving physical health and mental well-being.
He further stressed the need for youth to engage in constructive activities such as education, skill development, and community initiatives. He advised them to surround themselves with positive influences and make choices that lead to growth and success.
Calling for collective action, Shah urged society to unite in the fight against drug abuse and work towards building a healthier, stronger, and more determined generation. He asserted that the future belongs to the youth and must be protected, nurtured, and guided with pride.
Imran Shah also commended the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, appreciating the government’s focus on youth-centric governance and development. He noted that significant steps have been taken to create opportunities, nurture talent, and channel the energy of young people in a positive direction.
He particularly lauded the government’s emphasis on strengthening the sports ecosystem through modern infrastructure, enhanced training facilities, and promotion of grassroots participation. He added that such initiatives foster discipline, teamwork, and confidence among youth.
Imran Shah further highlighted the importance of skill development programs, employment initiatives, and platforms that amplify youth voices, stating that this inclusive approach ensures young people become active contributors to the region’s growth and stability.
Concluding, Shah said that youth-centric policies and the strengthening of sports infrastructure are paving the way for a brighter and more dynamic future for Jammu and Kashmir.
