School Commute Turns Tragic: Nine Students Injured in Reasi Gorge Fall
Nine Students Hurt as School Auto Plunges into Gorge in Reasi’s Mahore Sector
Reasi, Oct 16, KNT: Nine school students sustained injuries after an electric auto plunged into a deep gorge in Mahore sector of Reasi district on Thursday. The mishap occurred when the vehicle reportedly went out of control near Bissawali area.
According to reports, the electric auto bearing registration number JK20C-8056 was being driven by Shabir Ahmed, son of Wali Mohammad, a resident of Chaklas, Mahore. The vehicle was ferrying students from Budhan towards Saldhar when the driver lost control, causing the auto to skid off the road and fall into a gorge.
Locals and police immediately reached the spot and rescued the injured students, who were shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) Mahore for treatment. One of the injured students was later referred to District Hospital Reasi due to her critical condition.
The injured students have been identified as Uzma Bano, daughter of Bashir Ahmed; Yasmeen Kousar, daughter of Bahar Din; Shaina Kousar, daughter of Shah Din; Saima Bano, daughter of Bashir Ahmed; Shahnaz Bano, daughter of Nazir Ahmed; Amreena Bano, daughter of Mohammad Farooq; Dil Farooz Bano, daughter of Wali Mohammad; Nishad Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani; and the driver Shabir Ahmed himself.
Sources said all the students hail from Sildar and nearby areas of Mahore. The condition of one girl, identified as Dil Farooz Bano, is reported to be serious and she has been referred to District Hospital Reasi for advanced medical care.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and a case has been registered. [KNT]
