Ranji Trophy Final: LG Sinha, CM Omar Congratulate J&K Team; ₹2 Crore Reward Announced
Srinagar, Feb 28 (GNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy, describing the achievement as the region’s “finest hour.”
In a post on X, the LG lauded the players for their grit and determination.
“J&K’s finest hour has arrived. Emotions beyond words as our cricket team claims the Ranji Trophy. To every player who carved history through sheer grit—thank you from the entire UT. You have immortalised history; embrace it with honor,” the post reads as per GNS.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Chief Minister also congratulated Team J&K on their historic triumph and announced a cash reward of ₹2 crore for the players and support staff following their emphatic victory over Karnataka on their home turf.
“Congratulating Team J&K on their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy, the Chief Minister announced a cash reward of ₹2 crore for the players and support staff after their emphatic victory over Karnataka on their home turf,” reads the post.
“Calling it a watershed moment for Jammu & Kashmir cricket, he said the landmark win has filled the entire region with pride and inspiration. The players will also be entitled to government appointments under the recently notified rules for outstanding sportspersons”, concludes the X post. (GNS)
