Public Advisory: Cybercrime Officials Warn Against New Banking Scam

Srinagar : 28/01/2025 (JKNN) Police Station Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence, Srinagar has issued an advisory regarding a new scam.

Fraudsters are sending fake messages claiming a certain amount has been credited to your account. Upon logging in to verify the balance, scammers gain unauthorized access to your account, leading to fraud. Authorities urge citizens to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to such scams.
SHO PS CICE Srinagar, also urge citizens to remain cautious and follow these safety tips:
1. Do not trust unsolicited messages claiming credit to your account.
2. Avoid logging into your account immediately after receiving such messages.
3. Wait for at least 30 minutes and verify the transaction through official banking channels or customer support.
4. Do not share OTPs, passwords, or account details with anyone.
Your awareness and vigilance are essential to prevent such fraudulent activities.
