President’s 2-Day Visit to Jammu and Kashmir: University Convocation and Vaishno Devi Shrine
10/10/2023 (JKNN) :
President Droupadi Murmu is embarking on a significant two-day visit to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, commencing on Wednesday.
During this visit, President Murmu has a packed itinerary, which includes her participation in the convocation ceremony at Kashmir University and a spiritual journey to the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
President Murmu’s involvement in the convocation at Kashmir University highlights the importance of education and the recognition of academic achievements in the region.
This event will not only motivate and inspire the graduating students but also symbolizes the government’s commitment to the advancement of education.
In addition to the academic engagement, the President will also undertake a pilgrimage to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. This spiritual visit carries immense significance, reflecting the cultural and religious diversity of the nation.
The Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, nestled atop the Trikuta hills in the Reasi district, is a place of great devotion and attracts countless pilgrims.
Furthermore, President Murmu will inaugurate a remodelled Parvati Bhavan and a skywalk at the shrine. The construction of the skywalk, which began in August of the preceding year, addresses the critical issue of managing the flow of pilgrims.
Elevated 20 feet above the track level, this facility will effectively address the challenges of overcrowding and chaotic conditions that have previously led to incidents like the tragic stampede on New Year’s Day in 2022, resulting in loss of lives and injuries.
This visit underscores the government’s commitment to both education and public safety.
It is a reflection of the nation’s values and traditions, highlighting the significance of diverse cultural and religious practices that coexist harmoniously.
President Murmu’s visit serves as a symbol of unity and respect for the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as a step towards enhancing the safety and well-being of pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
