Police solves burglary case within 24 hours in Shopian, arrests accused duo

Srinagar, Jan 27 (KS): Two persons were arrested as Jammu and Kashmir Police said to have solved a burglary case within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of offence in Shopian district.

The District Police Shopian in a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Scroll said that it recovered stolen property/ornaments worth lakhs from possession of the accused.

“On 25-01-2024, Police Station Shopian received a written complaint from complainant to the effect that some unknown persons have stolen gold ornaments worth lakhs”, reads the statement adding accordingly, a case vide FIR No.19/2024 U/S 454,380 IPC was registered and investigation set into motion.

“During the course of investigation, investigating officer visited place of occurrence prepared site plan and recorded statement of witnesses. During investigation some suspects were questioned/interrogated who confessed their commission of crime and gold ornaments were recovered from their possession”, reads the statement.

“Further investigation into the matter is going on”, added the statement. (KS)
