Police raid house of former Hurriyat member in Shopian

‘Searches carried out at multiple places in Pulwama’

Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday conducted a search at the residence of a former hurriyat member in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that search is being conducted in connection with a case FIR No. 9/2024 under sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA.

He said that the search is being conducted in the house of former Hurriyat (G) member Mohammad Amin Parray son of Ghulam Nabi Parray of Kundalan.

Meanwhile, as per a statement issued to KNO, a police spokesman said that in continuation of the efforts to curb unlawful activities and dismantle the terror ecosystem, Pulwama Police conducted searches at multiple locations across the district in connection with the investigation of proscribed organizations.

The searches were carried out in connection with a case under FIR number 08/2024 under UAPA registered at Police Station Pulwama, pertaining to banned organizations. The operations were conducted at the houses and premises of suspected OGWs and activists in Nowpora Payeen, Litter, Galbugh, and Kakapora, police said.

Pulwama Police remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the district. Stringent action will continue to be taken against unlawful elements to ensure the safety and stability of the region, the statement reads—(KNO)
