Handwara, Nov 30, KNT: A Power Development Department employee lost his life after falling from an electricity pole while on duty in the Chogul area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Rashid Khan of Chogul. Officials said he was carrying out official work on an electricity pole when he accidentally fell, sustaining critical injuries.
He was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College, Handwara for emergency treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the fatal fall. Officials said further details would emerge after formal inquiry and procedural requirements.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with locals expressing shock over the loss of a working employee while performing official duties.
The authorities have urged strict adherence to
