“Pakistani Cricketer Fakhar Zaman’s Greeting ‘Hello, Bharat’ Makes Waves in India Ahead of ICC World Cup 2023”
Fakhar Zaman’s Warm Greeting ‘Hello, Bharat’ as Pakistan Arrives in India for ICC World Cup 2023 Warm-up Matches
Fakhar Zaman, a key player for Pakistan’s cricket team and their opening batter, made headlines with his friendly greeting, “Hello, Bharat,” upon their arrival in India. This gesture followed Pakistan’s landing on Indian shores in preparation for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. The team, led by Babar Azam, reached India via Delhi after a journey through Dubai and then to Hyderabad, where they are set to engage in two warm-up matches. Their first match is scheduled for October 6 against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Pakistan Cricket shared a video on social media (referred to as X) showcasing the national team’s first nets and practice session in India.
Fakhar Zaman’s use of the name “Bharat” in his post resonated with many Indian fans. This term was recently emphasized by the Government of India, aligning it with the Indian Constitution. Fakhar’s greeting received warm responses from Indian fans, with some playfully suggesting he might consider Indian citizenship.
Following their match against the Netherlands, Pakistan’s Men in Green will face Sri Lanka in the 8th match of the World Cup on October 10, in Hyderabad. They will then head to Ahmedabad to take on arch-rivals and hosts India at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on October 14.
It’s worth noting that Pakistan enters the World Cup as the second-ranked ODI side globally, behind India. They held the top spot until the end of the Asia Cup 2023, but India’s victories in the first two ODIs, coupled with Pakistan’s elimination, pushed them to the second spot in the rankings.
Historically, teams placed in the top two ODI rankings before the World Cup have often emerged as champions, a trend dating back to 1999. While India is considered the tournament favorite, Pakistan is also recognized as a formidable contender, given their solid team and familiarity with Indian conditions. Despite their loss in the Asia Cup, Pakistan remains a dangerous outfit.
