Pakistan Makes History with 3–0 ODI Whitewash Against South Africa on Their Home Turf

Pakistan Become First Team to Whitewash South Africa in South Africa in ODI Series

December 23, 2024 (JKNN) :
Pakistan have etched their name in cricket history by becoming the first team to whitewash South Africa in a bilateral ODI series on their home soil. The Green Shirts completed a remarkable 3–0 clean sweep after securing a thrilling 36-run victory in the rain-affected third ODI at The Wanderers Stadium on December 22.

Led by new white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan showcased dominant performances throughout the series, building on Rizwan’s impressive track record, which now includes series wins against Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

Saim Ayub, who was named Player of the Series, shone brightly with a sensational century in the final ODI, his third in ODI cricket. Debutant Sufiyan Muqeem also made an impactful start to his international career, claiming four wickets for 52 runs to stifle the Proteas’ chase. Despite Heinrich Klaasen’s explosive 81 off 43 balls, South Africa fell short in their pursuit of the target.

This historic whitewash is expected to serve as a confidence booster for Pakistan as they gear up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
