NHM Employees Launch 48-Hour Sit-In in Srinagar Over Pending Demands
Srinagar, Apr 01: (JKNN) Scores of employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday staged a protest in Srinagar, beginning a 48-hour sit-in to press for their long-pending demands.
The protesting employees reiterated key demands including immediate pay revision at par with other states, a secure job policy, and implementation of social security benefits such as EPF, ESI, insurance, and post-retirement support.
They expressed concern over the lack of concrete action despite repeated assurances from the administration, saying the delay has forced them to take to the streets.
“NHM employees have been at the forefront of healthcare delivery, especially during emergencies, but continue to face uncertainty regarding wages and job security,” the protesters said.
The employees also warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they may intensify their agitation in the coming days. The sit-in protest is scheduled to continue for 48 hours across Jammu and Kashmir.
