Mother and Daughter Attacked by Stray Dog in South Kashmir
Anantnag, Oct 11, KNT: Two persons, including a woman and her daughter, sustained injuries after being attacked by a stray dog in Sagam Wodar area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
Officials said the victims have been identified as Fatma Bibi, wife of Abdul Qayoom, and her daughter Shaziya Qayoom, both residents of Sagam Wodar. The duo was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed that their condition is stable.

Locals said the stray dog appeared suddenly near the main lane of the locality and attacked them without provocation. “They were returning home when the dog pounced on them. Locals rushed to their rescue and managed to chase the animal away,” one local said.
Medical officials at the local hospital said both victims received first aid and anti-rabies vaccination. “They have been treated and are under observation, but both are out of danger,” a health worker stated.
Meanwhile, locals from Sagam Wodar have urged authorities to address the growing menace of stray dogs in the area. They said several such incidents have occurred in recent weeks, causing fear among the villagers, especially among school-going children and elderly people. [KNT]
