Most Areas in Kashmir: A Call to Stop Throwing Garbage on Roads
By:-/ Aijaz Rather
Srinagar :19/10/2024 (JKNN) In many areas of Kashmir, it has become common for people to throw garbage, including food waste, onto the roads. This practice is not only harmful to the environment but also creates a number of health and safety issues.
It is crucial to recognize that keeping our surroundings clean is a shared responsibility.
One of the biggest problems with throwing trash on the roads is the unpleasant smell it creates.
The streets reek of garbage, making it uncomfortable for everyone. Moreover, the presence of trash attracts stray dogs, leading to an increase in their numbers on the streets.
Dogs, in search of food, often scatter garbage further, making the roads dirtier.
Sometimes, when people throw bones of meat on the roads, these bones can get stuck in the dogs’ throats, putting their lives in danger.
While it is the responsibility of local authorities to keep the streets clean and maintain proper sanitation, citizens must also play their part. We should be careful not to litter and make sure that trash is disposed of in proper bins. Keeping the roads free from garbage will also help avoid clogged drains, reducing the risk of flooding and damage to manholes.
A request to all: please stop throwing bones and other waste on the streets.
By doing so, we can ensure the safety of animals and improve the overall cleanliness of our environment. Together, we can make a difference and keep our surroundings clean and healthy for everyone.
