Miracle Escape for Driver as Truck Plunges into Gorge Near Zojila

Sonamarg, Dec 7, KNT: A truck traveling from Sonamarg towards Kargil met with an accident near Zojila on Sunday after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge. The driver, however, escaped unhurt in what police described as a miraculous survival.
Police sources said the truck, bearing registration number JK03C-8296, went out of control near Mandir Morh area of Zojila and fell into a steep ravine, resulting in substantial damage to the vehicle.
Soon after the incident was reported, a team from Police Station Sonamarg rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. The driver was safely evacuated from the site, officials said.
Station House Officer Police Station Sonamarg, Afaq Majid Wani, confirmed to the news agency Kashmir News Trust that no injuries were reported in the accident, though the truck sustained heavy damage.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. [KNT]
