Militants active in the Rajouri-Poonch belt use YSMS technology to evade presence: Report
Jammu, Jan 1, KNT: Non-local militants active in the Rajouri-Poonch belt of Jammu and Kashmir are reportedly using Yeoyou Stock Market System (YSMS) technology that is hard to trace and detect.
Reports said that this technology which can be used along with mobiles without SIM cards helps militants to be in contact with their associates and handlers.
Rajouri-Poonch belt has witnessed dreaded militant attacks in the recent past. Last year, 20 soldiers were killed in 4militant attacks in the belt. Militants carried out these attacks in the Bhatadhurian area of Mendhar Sub Division in Poonch, the Kandi forest area of Rajouri, Baji Maal forest area of Kalakote Rajouri and Thanamandi Surankote. Two soldiers were also injured in an encounter at Soom and Borah villages of Rajouri last year.
Reports said that security agencies are of firm belief that militants are using YSMS, iCom radio sets to communicate and carry out attacks in Poonch-Rajouri belt.
As per the news agency Kashmir News Trust, this is not the first time that the details of this new mode of communication have come to light. In 2020, after the killing of three non-local militants in an encounter in Nagrota, joint forces had recovered Yeoyou Stock Market System (YSMS) along with iCom radio set, which helped militants to be in contact with their handlers across the border.
Even the then DGP had confirmed and admitted the use of this technology by militants.
Meanwhile, the search operation in the forest of Poonch-Rajouri belt has entered the 12th day on Mondy. The operation was launched on 21 December shortly after the deadly attack near Bafliaz area. [KNT]
