MHA Orders Premature Retirement of Suspended IPS Officer Basant Rath

Srinagar, Aug 9 (GNS): The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an order for the premature retirement of Basant Rath, a senior IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre.
Reliable sources told GNS that Rath, a 2000 batch IPS officer, has been retired under rule 16(3) of the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement-Benefits) Rules, 1958.
Earlier suspended on July 8, 2020, Rath’s suspension was extended for an additional 180 days, until January 27, 2024, as recommended by the Central Review Committee. The suspension was initially due to disciplinary proceedings being contemplated against him. (GNS)
