Srinagar, Aug 30 (NVI): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today lashed out at the National Conference for coining the terms ‘Halaal and Haraam’ elections in J&K stating that when the party gets power polls become Halaal for it automatically.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Mehbooba said that she feels sad to see that those who themselves coined the terms Halaal and Haram elections in J&K are giving lessons to others. “I want to ask them (Abdullahs) who made elections Halaal for Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in 1987 when Muslim United Front was formed? Who resorted to rigging in the same elections so that no other alternative pops up against NC,” she said.
She said when NC gets power, polls become Halal for it and when they remain out of the power, the party calls elections as ‘haraam’…. The PDP chief said that the party pioneered plebiscite movement for 22 years with an aim to merge Kashmir with Pakistan but failed and later grabbed power by terming elections Halaal.—(NVI)
