Man-eater leopard shot dead in Handwara

Handwara, Sep 19, KNT: A man-eater leopard was killed by the wild life department in Nichhama Rajwar village of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district Tuesday evening.
The victims include Burhan Ahmad, son of Mohammad Kamal Mir of Marchwali Nichhama, Yasir Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Golipora Rajwar Handwara and several other were injured by the leopard killed today.
“The leopard was on prowl and posed an imminent threat to locals and their livestock,” officials said. “As soon as the beast emerged, the watchful locals gathered around and beat it up with sticks, resulting in its death.”
A Wildlife Department official confirmed the killing of the leopard.
An official of wild life department said that it was after over around 15 days of manhunt that the man eater leopard was eliminated.(KNT)
