Man Arrested For Killing His Wife In Ramban
Jammu, October 18(GNS): Police on Friday said that it have arrested a husband for killing his wife in Ramban district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that a missing reported case converted into an FIR at Police Station Ramban related to the death of wife by husband.
According to police spokesman, on 7th September an application was submitted by one Silma Devi Wd/O Choor Singh resident of Jhatgali, Tehsil Rajgarh regarding missing of her daughter in-law namely Salesha Devi age 35 years wife of Jeevan Singh resident of Jhatgali, Ramban. On the basis of complaint a missing report vide DDR No.14 dated 07.09.2024 was entered at PP Rajgarh.
SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh after sensing the gravity of offence constituted a special Police team headed by Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban. The Police team recorded the statements of the legal heirs of the missing lady and other witnesses. The Police also collected the technical evidence and finally came to know that on the day of incident i.e. 04.09.2024 accused Jeevan Singh called his wife namely Salesha Devi (deceased) to Ramban market for purchasing readymade garments for the children and on that day both husband and wife were seen in the Ramban Market, he said.
The Police team working under the close supervision of SSP Ramban questioned accused Jeevan Singh and after sustained questioning he confessed his involvement in the commission of crime and finally confessed that with the intention of killing his wife, he had pushed her into river Chenab near foot bridge in Chanderkote area, he said.
Accordingly, the missing report was converted into an FIR No. 256/2024 U/S 103/BNS (murder case) at P/S Ramban. The accused named above has been taken into Police Custody and the investigation of the case is ongoing, reads the statement.(GNS)
