A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck northwestern Afghanistan, following a series of earlier tremors that killed over 2,000 people.
The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.21 miles) around 05:10 am local time, with its epicenter approximately 29 kilometers north of Herat city.
Volunteers and rescuers have been working to find survivors from the previous earthquakes, which affected more than 12,000 people and destroyed entire villages. The exact number of casualties remains uncertain.
No immediate reports of new casualties were received after the latest quake, which hit near Herat city, home to over half a million people.
