J&K Election 2024 Phase 2: High-Profile Contenders Battle it Out as Voting Begins Today

By:- Aijaz Rather

25/09/2024 (JKNN) The second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections is underway today, with heavyweight candidates such as former chief minister Omar Abdullah, Apni Party’s Altaf Bukhari, and BJP’s Ravinder Raina locked in a high-stakes battle. More than 13,000 polling personnel have been deployed across 3,500 polling stations, covering 26 constituencies.

This phase is particularly significant as it includes the politically volatile border districts of Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi, which have witnessed terror activities since 2021. Heightened security measures are in place to ensure peaceful voting, especially near the Line of Control (LoC). Additionally, the hill districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Budgam are also set to vote, adding to the intensity of this critical electoral phase.

With key leaders and sensitive regions involved, the outcome of this phase could shape the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir moving forward.
