Legal Awareness Programme on “NALSA (Child-Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme 2024” Held at PALASH (Child Care Institute), Kangan
On the directions of Secretary District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal, Mr. Babar Hussain, and under the Chairmanship of Chairperson Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Kangan, Miss Mufti Nahida, a Legal Awareness Programme on “NALSA (Child-Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme 2024” was organized at PALASH (Child Care Institute), Kangan. The event was a collaborative effort between the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan and the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum, Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme was graced by Chief Guest Miss Mufti Nahida, Chairperson TLSC Kangan, along with notable attendees, including Mr. Farooq Ahmad, President ST Wing Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum J&K, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee Ganderbal, staff members of TLSC Kangan, resource person Advocate Abid Manzoor Dar, staff, and students of PALASH.
Highlights of the Event
Advocate Abid Manzoor Dar, the resource person, delivered an insightful speech on the Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme. He emphasized the various provisions under the scheme aimed at protecting children’s rights, highlighting its basis in legislative advancements and judicial pronouncements related to juvenile justice jurisprudence in India. He elaborated on children’s entitlement to free legal aid under the Legal Services Authority Act 1987 and raised awareness about the growing crimes against children, including child labor, sexual exploitation, and abuse in educational institutions.
Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee Ganderbal also addressed the gathering, outlining various welfare schemes for children and their implementation.
Miss Mufti Nahida, Chairperson TLSC Kangan and Chief Guest, interacted with the children and encouraged them to recognize and develop their unique talents with the support of their teachers and caregivers. She emphasized the importance of nurturing every child’s individuality and potential.
The students of PALASH presented vibrant cultural programs, adding an element of entertainment to the event. The programme concluded with the distribution of warm winter clothes to the children, ensuring their comfort during the cold months.
This event underscored the commitment of legal and welfare organizations to protecting and promoting children’s rights while fostering a supportive and enriching environment for their growth.
