Srinagar 04/12/2025 (JKNN) In a historic moment for Indian sports, the World Powerlifting Championship was held in India for the first time, with England and India jointly organising the landmark event.
The championship took place in Karnal, Haryana, over a three-day schedule on November 28, 29, and 30, featuring participation from at least 14 countries.
Amid intense competition, Kashmir’s Bilal Rah delivered an extraordinary performance, securing 1st position in the 100 kg category. What makes his victory even more remarkable is his health battle — Bilal Rah had been admitted at SKIMS Soura just 10–15 days before the championship due to illness. Despite no practice during recovery, he displayed exceptional strength and determination to clinch the top spot.
Bilal Rah’s win is being celebrated across Kashmir and the powerlifting community, marking a proud moment for the nation at this globally recognised event.
While speaking to JKNews Nation, Bilal Rah expressed heartfelt gratitude and shared an inspiring message for the youth. He said:
“By the mercy of Allah, I secured this position. When Allah is kind and parents’ prayers are with you,
is impossible. My message to today’s youth is to focus on your health instead of drugs. Drugs destroy a person completely — say no to drugs, because health is wealth. I also request parents to encourage their children to take more interest in sports and studies.”
Bilal Rah’s powerful words and his remarkable victory continue to inspire young athletes across Kashmir.
