Amid rising concerns over divisive content on social media, a strong appeal has been made in Kashmir urging religious figures and the public to promote unity and avoid spreading hatred.
The statement highlights the growing trend of self-styled clerics, particularly on platforms like Facebook and YouTube, engaging in inflammatory discussions and labeling others with sectarian terms such as “Wahhabi,” “Sunni,” and “Ahl-e-Hadith. Bravali, Deobandi and more ” Such actions, are creating unnecessary divisions within the Muslim community.
Calling for harmony and mutual respect, the appeal stresses that Islam teaches unity, brotherhood, and peace, and such online disputes only damage the social fabric. It also raises serious concerns about the impact of such negativity on the younger generation, warning that children and youth are being misled and confused.
The appeal further urges the police and concerned authorities to take strict action against individuals who spread hate, abuse others, or disturb public harmony through social media platforms.
Monitoring and accountability, it says, are essential to maintaining peace in society.
