The persons, all hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, had been employed as security personnel in the region, relying on fake arms licenses. After contacting authorities in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, it was confirmed that the licenses were fake and had not been issued by any official department.

The main suspect, Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hasan, from Kalakoth, Rajouri, was identified as the key facilitator who provided these fake licenses and rifles to individuals seeking jobs as security guards for Rs. 50,000 each.
