Vidhi Kumar Birdi Appointed as the New IGP of Kashmir

Vijay Kumar Transferred and Assigned as ADGP for Law and Order in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 07 (JKNN): On Tuesday, the government announced the appointment of Vijay Kumar Birdi as the new Inspector General of Police for Kashmir.

In an official order the following transfers and assignments have been made for the efficient administration, effective immediately:

Shri Vijay Kumar, IPS (AGMUT: 1997), who previously held the position of ADGP Kashmir, has been transferred and designated as ADGP for Law & Order in Jammu & Kashmir.

An additional post of ADGP, specifically for Law & Order in Jammu & Kashmir, has been temporarily added to the AGMUT Cadre within the J&K Segment, as per the 2nd proviso to sub-rule (2) of Rule 4 of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, for a duration of two years or until the post is vacated by the said officer, whichever comes first.

Shri Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IPS (AGMUT: 2003), has been appointed as the new IGP for Kashmir, succeeding Shri Vijay Kumar, IPS. Additionally, the officer will also be responsible for the position of IGP Armed Kashmir until further notice.

The order also states that the Zonal IGsP of Kashmir and Jammu will report to the ADGP for Law & Order in J&K, operating under the overall command and control of the DGP for Jammu & Kashmir. (JKNN)
