IPL Auction 2026: Delhi Capitals Bet Big on Uncapped kashmiri Pacer Auqib Nabi Dar at Rs 8.4 Crore
Srinagar 16/12/25 (JKNN) Uncapped fast bowler Auqib Nabi Dar became one of the standout stories of the IPL 2026 auction after Delhi Capitals secured the Jammu & Kashmir speedster for a whopping RS 8.4 crore, outbidding Sunrisers Hyderabad in a fierce contest at the auction table.
Hailing from Baramulla, the right-arm medium pacer has risen rapidly through the domestic ranks, earning a reputation for his movement with the new ball and calm execution in high-pressure situations. His ability to deliver at the death has particularly impressed selectors and franchise scouts alike.
Dar first grabbed national attention during the Duleep Trophy, where he produced a remarkable spell by taking four wickets in four successive deliveries, a rare achievement that immediately set tongues wagging. He backed that performance with consistent displays in the Ranji Trophy, establishing himself as one of the most promising fast bowlers in India’s domestic circuit.
The 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy further enhanced his credentials. Dar finished the tournament with 15 wickets from seven matches, including a four-wicket haul, while maintaining an economy rate below eight—an exceptional return in the shortest format. His all-round abilities were also evident in his last appearance against Madhya Pradesh at Eden Gardens, where he struck 32 off 21 balls at No.7, hitting two fours and three sixes, before claiming 3 for 19 in his four overs.
Over time, a number of cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir—such as Parvez Rasool, Umran Malik, Abdul Samad, Rasikh Salam, Yudhvir Singh, Mohammad Mudhasir and Manzoor Pandav—have made their way into IPL teams. While a few went on to secure sustained opportunities, others gained valuable exposure to top-tier competition and professional coaching setups. However, Auqib’s ₹8.40 crore acquisition marks one of the most landmark moments for the region in IPL history so far.
Delhi Capitals’ significant investment reflects their belief in Dar’s pace, skill set, and long-term potential. As he prepares to transition from a domestic performer to an IPL campaigner, Auqib Nabi Dar’s rise marks a major milestone for cricket in Jammu & Kashmir and adds an exciting new chapter to his rapidly growing career.
