An army official told Srinagar based news gathering agency Kashmir Scroll that specific intelligence about the movements of some unidentified individuals was received on October 1 by J&K Police after a successful operation on September 13.

He said a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police was launched in the area of Kalakote.

The officer said the operation in the area is underway to track down the militants hiding.

On September 13, last month, two militants were killed in Rajouri district; however, in the operation, an army soldier also lost his life.

Pertinently, Rajouri and Poonch were considered free from militancy a few years ago but have been high on the militant radar in the last few months. (KS)
