Srinagar, 02 Feburary: In a remarkable display of dedication and commitment towards the local populace, the Indian Army played a pivotal role in aiding the residents of Bhujthala village in Boinyar. The incident unfolded on the night of January 31, 2024, when an SUV carrying 15 individuals from Bhujthala Village skidded off the road, plunging 100 meters down a steep hillside. This unfortunate accident resulted in nine fatalities and six non-fatal casualties.

The immediate aftermath of the accident posed significant challenges for the villagers as they attempted to transport the mortal remains of the deceased. The slippery roads, exacerbated by heavy snowfall, rendered their vehicles ineffective in navigating the treacherous terrain. Faced with this predicament, the civil administration sought the assistance of the Indian Army, recognizing the need for their expertise and resources.

Responding promptly to the distress call, an Indian Army team from Lachhipura was dispatched to Bhujthala village to assist the civil administration. Armed with medical stretchers, the soldiers navigated the challenging conditions to reach the accident site. Demonstrating quick thinking and resourcefulness, the Indian Army team improvised stretchers on the spot, utilizing bedsheets and poles from a civil ambulance, along with cots from nearby houses.

Throughout the night, the Indian Army team worked tirelessly, ensuring the respectful transport of the mortal remains of the eight civilians. Despite the adverse weather conditions and the complexity of the task, the soldiers exhibited unwavering commitment and resilience. Their collaborative efforts with the J&K Police and Civil Administration underscored the importance of synergy in times of crisis.

The following day, the Indian Army continued its efforts, assisting in the transportation of the mortal remains of two additional civilians to the village. This collaborative initiative highlighted not only the military’s role in safeguarding the nation but also its commitment to nation-building activities and providing crucial assistance to local communities.

The Indian Army’s selfless actions in Bhujthala village serve as a testament to the humanity and compassion that extend beyond the battlefield. In the face of adversity, these soldiers exemplified the highest ideals of service, illustrating the profound impact that their dedication can have on the lives of those in need.
