18/11/2023 (JKNN) Escalating Challenges: Kashmir Grapples with Unrelenting Power Crisis

The power crisis in Kashmir persists unabated, burdening residents and businesses with daily outages lasting 7-9 hours.

Despite official assurances of acquiring additional power, the ground reality remains grim, fueling frustration among the populace.

Both metered and non-metered areas bear the brunt of severe power cuts, enduring 4 to 5 hours of continuous outages in many places.

The situation poses a grave concern for residents and businesses, as erratic power supply plunges them into darkness for extended periods.

Residents, speaking to JKNews Nation, express skepticism about the enforcement of power supply rules on the ground, dismissing authorities’ promises as deceptive. Despite a purported power schedule from the Power Development Department (PDD), electricity seldom aligns with the plan, resulting in significant challenges for patients, particularly those dependent on oxygen, and causing distress for the elderly due to unscheduled power cuts.
