Reasi, 29 July 2023: (JKNN)

Continuing its drive against drug Abuse and illicit liquor launched by District Reasi Police, an information was received through a reliable source that one person namely Mangi Singh S/O Kaka Singh R/O Kheralaid, tehsil Pouni district Reasi is illegally selling desi liquor in the adjoining areas of Village Kheralaid of P/S Pouni.

On receiving this information, police party of P/S Pouni raided on the spot and seized 10 litres desi Illicit liquor from his possession and arrest him from the spot. Moreover, 55 litres Lahan also got destroyed on spot. Investigation initiated to unearth forward and backward linkages. On this, a Case FIR No.51/2023 U/S 48 (a), 48(e), 48-(f) Excise Act stands registered at P/S Pouni. The whole operation was led by SHO Pouni Insp. Purab Singh under the supervision of Dy.SP headquarter Neeraj Padyar- JKPS.

In another incident, Naka Party of P/S Katra were on checking/frisking duty at PCP Nomain, Katra. During checking, two persons who were coming on foot from Nomain side towards Katra town, upon seeing police party, tries to fled away from the spot but were apprehended by police party. During checking of one person who disclosed his name as Mehnga Singh S/O Kulwant Singh R/O Gali Dhotian Wali, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Police Party found 9.50 gms of Heroin like substance. Further on checking of another person who disclosed his name as Namsroop Singh S/O Jarnail Singh R/O Warpal, Amritsar, Police Party found 09 gms of Opium like substance. On this, Case FIR No 238/2023 U/S 8/18/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Katra and investigation is going on.

The whole operation is led by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Nishant Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Katra Sh. Surinder Singh-JKPS and overall supervision of SP Katra Vipin Chandran- JKPS.

Sh Amit Gupta-JKPS Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi while sharing the detail said that Reasi Police will leave no stone unturned to curb the menace of drug abuse and illicit liquor smuggling in the area.
SSP further appealed that people should come forward to strengthen the hands of police to eradicate this menace from the society.
