Foul Smell and Health Hazard in Ganderbal’s Main Market: Residents Urge SMC to Address Drainage Crisis”
Ganderbal, August 13, 2024 (JKNN) Residents and shopkeepers in Ganderbal’s main market are raising urgent concerns over the deteriorating condition of the local drainage system.
The drain, situated opposite the State Bank of India (SBI) branch, has become a breeding ground for foul odors, creating a serious health risk for the community.
Locals report that the stench from the drain has worsened over time, making the area almost unbearable to pass through.
“The smell is so strong that it’s difficult to even stand here, let alone run a business,” says a frustrated shopkeeper.
“We fear it could lead to the outbreak of diseases if not addressed immediately.”The situation has prompted residents to appeal to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for swift action.
They are calling on the authorities to clean and repair the drainage system as soon as possible, fearing that the current conditions could lead to severe health issues.
The SMC has yet to respond to these concerns, but the urgency of the situation is clear.
With the health of the community at risk, residents hope that action will be taken before the problem escalates further.
