: “Harbhajan Singh Criticizes Umpiring and Rules for Pakistan’s Heartbreaking Defeat in ICC World Cup 2023”
28/10/2023 (JKNN)
Harbhajan Singh has pointed fingers at the quality of umpiring and the existing rules for Pakistan’s agonizing 1-run loss to South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Singh has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to rethink the umpire’s call rule to enhance the game’s fairness and integrity.
The game-changing moment came when the third umpire’s decision favored South Africa after Pakistan opted for the Decision Review System (DRS) following an on-field umpire’s not-out call. This decision ultimately swung the match in South Africa’s favor as Tabraiz Shamsi added 11 runs with Keshav Maharaj.
In response to this dramatic turn of events, Harbhajan Singh expressed his solidarity with Pakistan and called for a rule change, emphasizing that if the ball hits the stumps, it should be considered out, irrespective of the umpire’s initial call, as he questioned the purpose of technology in the game.
