“Government Employees Joint Action Forum to Hold Protests at Press Club Jammu and Kashmir on 4th November”
21/10/2023 : (JKNN) The Government Employees Joint Action Forum will conduct protests at both the Press Clubs in Jammu and Srinagar to protect the rights of government employees. The protests will be led by Shri Susheel Sudan, Suresh Sharma, Aijaz Khan, and Mr. Subash Verma.
Mr. Ishtiyaq Beigh, Chairman of the JK Government Employees Conference, expressed concerns about the shortage of manpower in various departments, particularly in hospitals. He emphasized the need to regularize the employment of 61,000 casual laborers who are currently working for minimum wages.
Regarding the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS), he mentioned that senior employees have been awaiting promotions for a decade. Additionally, there has been an 8-month delay in providing access to the General Provident (GP) fund, which is a fundamental right of government employees.
These issues need to be addressed, and it is high time for a peaceful protest at both Press Clubs to highlight these concerns.
