Former PM Khan’s Sister Visit Quells Rumours of His Death in Custody
December 02 : (JKNN)
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on corruption charges he claims are politically motivated, has finally been allowed to meet his sister, Dr Uzma Khan, following weeks of intense speculation surrounding his health and safety.
Concerns about Khan’s wellbeing grew sharply last month after his three sisters – Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan – alleged they were assaulted when they attempted to meet him. Their claims fuelled widespread fear, particularly as Khan had not been seen publicly for 25 days, prompting rumours—initially spread by Afghan social media accounts—that he may have died in custody and authorities were concealing the news to prevent mass unrest.
The Pakistan government and jail authorities continued to insist that Khan was alive and receiving medical care but refrained from releasing any photographic or video proof, leading to mounting pressure. Tensions escalated further on Sunday after Senator Khurram Zeeshan from Khan’s party demanded the government present verifiable proof of his condition.
The latest confirmation that Dr Uzma Khan was allowed to meet her brother has momentarily quelled speculation, though political observers note that public distrust remains high due to ongoing Pak-Afghan tensions and internal political strife.
Authorities have yet to issue a detailed health bulletin or visual confirmation, leaving many questions still unanswered.
