Srinagar Sweets Unit Sealed and Penalized for Unhygienic Practices.
Enforcement Action Against Unhygienic Sweets Manufacturing Unit in Srinagar
14/11/2023 : (JKNN/AR) A team from the Food Safety Department, led by Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety/Intelligence Cum Legal Cell Kashmir, along with Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Srinagar and Assistant Commissioner ICLC, conducted a raid on a sweets manufacturing unit in Qamarwari, Srinagar. The unit was found operating under unhygienic conditions and was promptly sealed.
Samples of Rasgola and Gulab Jamun were collected for analysis, and the remaining products were seized. Upon receiving the test report from the Food Analyst in Kashmir, the samples were declared sub-standard. A complaint was filed before the Adjudicating Officer (Additional Deputy Commissioner) of the Srinagar district, who issued an order for the destruction of the sub-standard products.
Approximately 1.5 quintals of Rasgola and Gulab Jamun were properly disposed of in the waste management system, and a penalty of Rs 50,000 was imposed on both the manufacturer and the supplier by the Adjudicating Officer in Srinagar.
