Fog likely to continue till 4th Jan amidst dry spell; No significant weather activity through this date in J&K: MeT

Srinagar, Dec 29 (KS): The persistent dense fog in Kashmir, now spanning five days, is posing considerable difficulties for commuters across the region. This atmospheric phenomenon is attributed to an ongoing dry spell, underscoring the tangible impact of weather fluctuations on daily life.

An official from MeT informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that from 29th-31st December, partly to generally cloudy with dry weather with moderate to dense fog over plains of Kashmir, Jammu division with slight improvement in visibility during 30th/31st December due to approaching feeble Western Disturbance.

The official said that from 1st-3rd January, weather will remain generally dry. On 4th January, weather will remain generally cloudy with light snow at isolated higher reaches, he added.

Fog, he said, likely to continue till 4th January due to absence of any major wet spell. Overall no significant weather activity till 4th January, he said.

Regarding the minimum temperatures, he said that Srinagar, known as the Summer Capital, shivers at -3.3°C while Qazigund registers a chilly -4.2°C. Kokernag, he said reports -2.6°C. Pahalgam experiences a bone-chilling -5.4°C, he said. Kupwara measures -4.0°C and Gulmarg records -2.5°C, he said. (KS)
