3 children among 5 killed after fridge compressor explodes in Punjab’s Jalandhar
A fridge compressor exploded in a house in Punjab’s Jalandhar, killing five members of a family, including three children. The incident occurred on Sunday night.
Five members of a family, including three children, died after a compressor of a fridge exploded in their house in Punjab’s Jalandhar, police said on Monday, news agency PTI reported.
The incident took place in the city’s Avtar Nagar area on Sunday night. The house caught fire after the explosion, according to the police.
The five people were rushed to Civil Hospital Jalandhar but they all succumbed to their injuries. They were identified as Yashpal Ghai (70), Ruchi Ghai (40), Mansha (14), Diya (12) and Akshay (10).
A forensic expert team has been called to collect samples and determine the exact cause of the explosion, police said.
“We received information about an explosion-like incident in a house in Jalandhar’s Avtar Nagar, after which we immediately reached the spot. We are investigating the reason behind the accident. We have called a team of forensic experts,” Jalandhar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Aditya said.
