Engineering body thanks Chief Minister, Power Department leadership for large-scale promotions
Srinagar, Dec 31, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association has welcomed the recent government order approving large-scale promotions of Executive Engineers to the rank of Superintending Engineers in the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department, terming it a long-awaited and positive step for the power sector.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the association said the decision has addressed a prolonged administrative gap and brought renewed confidence within the engineering cadre of the department. The promotions are expected to strengthen the decision-making structure and improve operational efficiency across the power sector.
The association’s president, Pirzada Hidayatullah, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, and the Financial Commissioner Power, Shailendra Kumar, for what he described as visionary leadership and a clear commitment to career progression within the engineering wing.
According to the statement, the elevation of experienced engineers to senior supervisory roles has acted as a major morale booster for the workforce and reflects the government’s intent to professionalise and reinforce the power development system in the Union Territory.
The association underlined that a motivated and settled engineering workforce forms the backbone of an efficient power sector. It said the recent promotions are likely to contribute to improved billing efficiency, reduction in Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses, and enhanced public service delivery.
JKEEGA also issued a message to the engineering fraternity, stressing that higher positions bring greater responsibility. It urged all promoted officers and other engineering staff to discharge their duties with maximum efficiency and work diligently towards achieving departmental targets, including round-the-clock quality power supply.
The association also placed on record its appreciation for the Human Resource Management wing of the department, led by Additional Secretary HRM Zakir Hussain Wani, for what it described as meticulous handling of promotion cases. The HRM team was lauded for ensuring timely issuance of orders by navigating administrative procedures in a professional manner.
Concluding the statement, the association reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the government to help transform the power landscape of Jammu and Kashmir and ensure reliable electricity services for the inhabitants. [KNT]
