Counting of vote begins

The counting of votes has begun in the Union Territory. 

In Jammu, the counting will take place at the Polytechnic College and M.A.M. College in Jammu and Government Degree College Kathua for the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat. Multi-tier security and round-the-clock CCTV surveillance have been put in place.

Officials earlier said the security is heightened and section 144 in certain areas. Speaking on the preparation for Lok Sabha poll counting day, Jammu Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar told ANI, “All the preparations have been done…The training of the staff and randomization have also been done. The candidates of the political parties have been issued I-cards and sensitized. Section 144 has been imposed in the area of the counting and to maintain the sanctity of the model code of conduct so that there is no problem around 100 metres of the centre.”

Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live Updates: 543 Seats, 8360 Candidates, 64 Crore Voters (Over 96 crore registered electors) – These numbers are enough to tell the magnitude of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 held by the Election Commission of India. CEC Rajiv Kumar said that India created a world record of 64.2 crore voters. This is 1.5 times of voters of all G7 countries and 2.5 times the voters of 27 countries in the EU. The Lok Sabha polls for 2024 were held in seven phases – April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20, 26 and June 1. The country recorded around 67% voter turnout as per the ECI figure. New Delhi: After a marathon six-week, seven-phase voting, votes are being counted for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and results will be known today.

The counting of votes will start at 8 am amid tight security.

Voting took place between April 19 and June 1 in 543 Lok Sabha seats to send one representative each to the Lower House of the Parliament.

Any party or coalition needs a majority of 272 seats to form the government.

This year’s Lok Sabha election was the second-longest since India’s first election in 1951-52.

The trends generally emerge within an hour of counting and the results become clear by the afternoon of the counting day. The counting of EVM votes will start 30 minutes after the postal ballot count, poll officials have said.

This time, the BJP has set a target of 370 seats for itself and 400 seats for NDA.

The BJP’s campaign was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party’s biggest star campaigner, PM Modi participated in over 200 public meetings, including rallies and roadshows.

The Congress, attenuated by poll losses and a string of defections, is part of the Opposition bloc INDIA taking on the BJP. The INDIA bloc’s campaign featured joint rallies by Opposition leaders.
