Elderly, Children flood Bhaderwah hospital as dry season triggers health issues

Doda, Jan 22 (KNO): As dry and chilly weather continues across Jammu and Kashmir with no forecast for the wet spell till January 28, Bhaderwah hospital is in a huge rush of patients—both elderly and children—complaining cough, cold and other health issues triggered by the prolonged dry weather.

In Bhaderwah, night temperatures witnessed a further drop while the maximum day temperature continued to remain above normal.

The number of patients with viral diseases like flu, chest infection and pneumonia has increased due to dry weather as Bhaderwah hospital witnessed heavy rush of the patients especially infants and children with the winter diseases.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that long queues of patients including children and elderly persons could be seen in the hospital with patients complaining of cough, chest infection, throat infection, headache, fever and body aches.

Dr Sangeeta, Senior Paediatrician at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah has advised people, particularly children and elderly persons to avoid venturing out during morning and evening hours when the temperatures are minus and abnormal.

“There is a huge rush of patients due to dry weather as we are receiving infants and children with cold-related diseases, including cough, chest infection, pneumonia, headache, fever, respiratory infection, vomiting, Asthma and body ache,” she said, adding that “people to take care of children, infants and elders during this period of season.”

Locals of Bhaderwah are also worried about the weather conditions and are praying to Almighty to shower snow and rain—(KNO)
