Dry Spell Persists in J&K: MeT Predicts Ongoing Dry Weather Until January 20th, Alongside 3 More Days of Dense Fog in Jammu Plains

Srinagar, Jan 10 (KS): The meteorological department on Wednesday predicts a continued dry spell in Jammu and Kashmir until January 20th with an additional warning of three more days of dense fog over the plains of Jammu.

An official from MeT informed news agency Kashmir Scroll thay dry weather likely to continue till 20th January with cloudy on 12th & 17th evening.

The official said that a feeble western disturbance is approaching on 17th January. He said that generally cloudy weather with light snow over isolated higher reaches is expected.

From 18-20th January, weather will remain generally dry, he said. Overall dry weather is expected till 20th January, he said. Dense fog over plains of Jammu, he said most likely to continue during next 3 days.

Regarding the minimum temperatures, he said that the Kashmir Valley experienced a notable drop in temperatures, with Srinagar recording a low of minus 5.0°C compared to the previous night’s minimum temperature of minus 2.4°C.

Qazigund, he said, reported a minimum of minus 4.4°C, showcasing a noticeable decrease from the previous night’s minus 2.6°C.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 6.3°C, marking a substantial drop from minus 4.4°C on the previous night.

Kokernag, he said, reported a minimum temperature of minus 2.4°C, compared to the previous night’s minus 1.2°C. Meanwhile, Kupwara in north Kashmir saw a low of minus 4.7°C, slightly lower than the previous night’s minus 4.5°C, he said.

Gulmarg, the renowned hill station, he said, recorded a low of minus 5.0°C, a dip from the previous night’s minus 4.6°C.

Jammu, he said, reported a minimum temperature of 4.8°C, witnessing a marginal decrease from 5.1°C on the previous night. Further, Banihal recorded a low of minus 1.4°C, Batote at 2.2°C, and Bhaderwah at a biting minus 0.2°C, he said. (KS)
