Drivers and EMTs of 108 Ambulance Service Demand Justice over Low Pay from Bharat Vikas Group Limited
By:-/Aijaz Rather
Srinagar 13/11/2024 (JKNN) The drivers and EMTs working with the 108 Ambulance Service under Bharat Vikas Group Limited (BVG) are raising concerns—not directly against the company, but over what they believe is unfairly low pay. With daily wages of just 300 to 350 rupees, they say it’s nearly impossible to sustain their families.
The workers are appealing to authorities, explaining that such low pay prevents them from meeting even basic needs, like buying clothes for their children or fulfilling any of their desires. They further express frustration about deductions, even on days when they may face personal emergencies, such as family incidents or bereavements. Despite being on-call 24/7, responding to emergency cases and being ready for night shifts, they feel their dedication and hard work are not being fairly compensated.
The workers are requesting authorities to step in and ensure they receive a fair wage that reflects the demands and responsibilities of their roles.
