DLSA Srinagar in collaboration with Human Rights, & Anti Corruption Forum, organized a series of awareness programmes

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar in collaboration with Human Rights, & Anti Corruption Forum, organized a series of awareness programmes to promote women’s rights and empower women today, on 4th March , 2024, as part of its efforts to commemorate International Women’s Day on 8th March 2024.

The Programme was held under the able guidance of Mr. Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA (PDJ) Srinagar,
DLSA,Srinagar, initiated a door-to-door awareness campaign through its para legal volunteers in different areas of District Srinagar. The volunteers visited households, educating women about their legal rights, protection mechanisms, and the importance of seeking legal assistance when needed.


Additionally, an awareness programme was conducted in the slum areas of Bemina . The programme aimed to empower women in marginalized communities by providing them with information on their rights, access to legal aid, and resources available to support them.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sunila Kumari, (JLA), DLSA, Srinagar, emphasized the need for collective action to create a society where women are respected, empowered, and free from discrimination and violence. She urged the participants to spread awareness among their networks and families, to empower women in all spheres of life, as Women plays a vital role in society, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.


Advocate Suhaila, Panel Lawyer, DLSA, Srinagar, spoke extensively about issues affecting women, such as domestic violence, gender discrimination, and financial insecurity. She emphasized the importance of women’s awareness of their rights and the availability of legal assistance to protect their interests.
The programme was well-received by the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the valuable information provided and the opportunity to learn about their rights. DLSA Srinagar is committed to continuing its efforts to empower women and uphold their rights.
