Srinagar, Feb 02 (KS): In response to a growing concern within the healthcare sector, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has launched a comprehensive initiative to address unethical practices related to medical testing.
The recent circular from DHSK, a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir Scroll sheds light on the issue of agents and touts associated with private testing labs actively encouraging patients to opt for private medical tests, despite the presence of testing facilities in Government Health Care Facilities.
The circular, directed at Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents of Government hospitals, serves as a rallying call to tackle this issue head-on. DHSK emphasizes the importance of taking all necessary measures to discourage these unethical and unfair practices, with a particular focus on collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
The health authorities are urged to enforce legal consequences for those involved in promoting private tests over government facilities. Additionally, the circular advocates for the implementation of a robust monitoring system to address patient complaints linked to such unethical practices.
Patients are encouraged to report any incidents of undue influence towards private testing, underscoring DHSK’s commitment to transparency and accountability. The Directorate aims to create a responsive system, urging Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents to implement measures to monitor and address such complaints and provide regular updates—(KS)
