Jammu, Dec 30, KNT: Two road accidents were reported from different parts of Jammu on Tuesday amid dense fog conditions, leaving two workers critically injured and causing extensive damage to a vehicle.
According to officials, a Punjab-based bus bearing registration number PB02EG 4279 hit two workers who were installing a solar light along a link road in Miran Sahib. The incident occurred due to extremely poor visibility caused by dense fog during the morning hours.
The injured workers sustained critical injuries in the collision. Officials said the bus driver failed to notice the workers engaged in installation work along the roadside and accidentally struck them. No passenger travelling in the bus was injured in the incident.
Both injured workers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition was stated to be critical.
In a separate incident, an i10 car bearing registration number JK02CH 0977 rammed into a shop in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu due to low visibility caused by fog. The collision resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, though no injuries were reported in the incident.
Jammu outskirt areas have been witnessing severe fog conditions during morning and evening hours over the past few days, significantly reducing visibility on roads and increasing the risk of accidents. Authorities have advised motorists to drive cautiously, use fog lights, and avoid high speeds during low visibility conditions to prevent further mishaps. [KNT]
