Children’s Day Celebrated with Emphasis on Legal Rights and Protection at Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School, Bijbehara

14/11/2024 (JKNN) In a significant Children’s Day event, organized under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Bijbehara collaborated with the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum HQ-Delhi JK to conduct a program at Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School, Bijbehara. The event featured key dignitaries including Mr. Muzamil Ahmad Wani, Secretary DLSA Anantnag; Ms. Nusrat Aziz, Tehsildar Bijbehara; Mr. Furqan Qadir, SP Operations Anantnag; Mr. Mudasir Ahmad Naikoo, President Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum; Dr. Mehnaz, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer; and Mr. Imam Khurshid Mujeeb Afzal KAS, President of the Bar Association Bijbehara.

Chairperson of TLSC Bijbehara, Ms. Tabassum Qadir Parray, commenced the program by discussing the theme of this year’s Children’s Day: “Love, Affection, & Attention.” She underscored the legal responsibilities of parents and society in protecting children from exploitation and abuse, and she advocated for the role of Child Welfare Committees and Childline services in supporting children facing distress. Ms. Parray emphasized the need for legal literacy to ensure that children and families understand their rights.

Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Mr. Muzamil Ahmad Wani, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the importance of such events to uphold children’s legal rights. He detailed the Right to Education Act (RTE) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, which guarantee education and protection from abuse. Mr. Wani called attention to the Juvenile Justice Act and pledged the support of DLSA Anantnag to ensure these rights are upheld for all children.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and mementos to meritorious students, including those who recently qualified for KAS and NEET. The Principal of Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School Bijbehara offered a Vote of Thanks, marking the end of a meaningful observance focused on child rights and Protection.
