Srinagar 02/02/2026 : (JKNN) An earthquake jolted the Kashmir Valley in the early hours of the morning, waking people from their deep sleep and triggering panic across several areas. Residents said the tremors were strong enough to rattle doors and windows, creating loud noises that startled families awake.
The sudden tremors left residents anxious, with several reporting a brief but intense shaking that caused widespread alarm. However, no reports of casualties or major damage have been received so far, Earthquake Measuring 4.8 on Richter Scale Shakes J&K, Originates in Budgam.
Many people rushed out of their homes in fear, while others checked on neighbours and relatives through phone calls.
