BOMIS Pampore Student Shines at Inter-School Debate Competition

Pampore, Kashmir — October 10, 2024 (JKNN) In a remarkable achievement, Khan Asmat, a Grade 10 student from BOMIS Pampore, secured the prestigious Best Speaker Award at the Annual Inter-School Debate Competition hosted by Delhi Public School, Srinagar, today.

The competition featured talented speakers from thirteen leading schools in Kashmir, where participants passionately shared their viewpoints on the thought-provoking topic, “Morality is a Regressive Social Construct.” Representing BOMIS were two exceptional students, Aarizoo Shafi and Khan Asmat. Both delivered insightful and well-structured arguments, addressing various dimensions of morality and its role in shaping societal values.

Khan Asmat took a stand against the motion, arguing that morality plays a crucial role in societal cohesion and individual development. Her articulate presentation and compelling arguments captivated the audience, earning her high praise from judges and peers alike.

“I am honored to receive this award,” Asmat said after the event. “I want to thank my teachers and classmates for their support. The culture of debates at BOMIS Pampore has truly inspired me to express my views confidently and engage with diverse perspectives.”

Dr. Mehnaz Rehman, Principal of BOMIS Pampore, congratulated the students for bringing accolades to the school, stating, “These achievements reflect not only the hard work and dedication of our students but also the vibrant culture of debate we foster at BOMIS. We are immensely proud of both participants and encourage all our students to engage in such enriching experiences.”

The debate was judged by an esteemed panel, including Prof. Nighat and Prof. Farooq Ahmed, who evaluated participants based on the strength of their arguments, clarity of thought, and delivery.

This achievement underscores the vital role of debate in schools as a powerful means of nurturing talent and developing critical thinking skills. At BOMIS Pampore, a strong focus on debate and public speaking cultivates effective communication and empowers students to engage deeply with complex issues.
